Experiments

Human < > Rubber

After experimenting with silk I decided it would more effectively communicate my research by exploring a completely man-made material in the form of rubber. I decided to simulate this reacting to different objects rather than just reacting to gravity, this provides an interesting collision aspect where the faces collide with its surroundings and this in turn alters its material perception. At first I kept the skin texture of the face, but as I was simulating rubber I decided to also experiment with creating a more plastic texture with garish colours to further show the synthetic qualities. This culminated in an experiment whereby the synthetic face collided with the human face, I particularly like the final effect of this as it is the coming together of the border between one and the other and when faced with this the reaction is unpredictable.
